Congrats to Tom Davis and Ed Mikhli...

For winning the regular season title in their respective conferences. Tom dominated the NFC and finished with a perfect 14-0 record with his 1991 Washington Redskins. The Fun Bunch and the Hogs helped propel Tom into 1st and keep him there. By week number 8 all he was playing for was a date with destiny. No CFL team has ever finished 14-0. In the CFL's second season the 1958 Colts finished 12-0, but they played 2 games less than the Skins and played against slightly lesser competition. Ed Mikhli finished in a 3 way tie for first place with his 1990 Raiders. Having led the conference for most of the season despite the absence of star half back Bo Jackson, Mikhli had his team well in control until the final weeks when the wheels seemed to lose some air. Still his team was better than the '90 Bills and '94 Steelers as he beat those two teams out for first via the tie breaker system. All 3 finished with identical 10-4 records.

On a side note, poor Stu Geller, won 9 games with his 1991 Oilers, but was shut out of the playoff picture. This is another CFL first. No 9 win team has ever been eliminated from the post season. Stu coached his butt off, but as he said, "it's hard to win with a one dimensional team vs this type of competition".

The playoffs will begin this week. The wild card match ups are:

AFC: 1990 Buffalo @ 1994 Pittsburgh
NFC: 1994 San Fran @ 1990 Philadelphia

Barry Sanders breaks NFL single season rushing record with 2,105 yards

In 1984 Eric Dickerson set the single season NFL rushing yardage record with 2,105 yards in 16 games. This season, Barry Sanders (1994 Lions) not only set the CFL single season rushing record, but beat the great Dickerson himself...in 2 less games. While his team didn't win many games (4), Barry was not to blame. His CFL single season total of 2,270 yards is a record that just might stand the test of time. To put it into proper perspective Barry averaged 162 yards per game. His season yards per carry average came to 5.7 yards per touch. The number 2 rusher, Emmitt Smith finished with 1,114 yards LESS than Mr. Sanders. Barry and Coach Fortel might not have won many games, but they certainly put together a record breaking performance.

'91 Skins Sack Pack to clinch perfect 14-0 Regular Season

This will just be a short recount as the party is still going on and Matt Millen (4 tackles, 1 pass defensed) and Martin Mayhew 4 tackles) are already so drunk they think they will be general managers in the NFL. Green Bay scored first on a Brett Favre (29-47, 268 yds, 2 sacks, 1 td, 2 int)to Sterling Sharpe (5-53, 1 td) 5 yard td pass. Washington's first two drives ended in fumbles inside the Green Bay 25 and their fourth drive ended with a 28 yard Chip Lohmiler field goal. Meanwhile the Redskin defense was holding the Packers on downs and intercepting one pass and recovering a fumble to end Packer drives. Ernest Byner (15-38, 2 tds) scored on a 6 yd run and Chris Jacke ended the first half scoring with a 19 yard field goal. Four plays into the second half Favre threw his second interception of the game and Byner carried the football over from the 3. After the Packers were forced to punt, Mark Rypien (19-33, 405 yds, 1 sack, 1 td) found Rickey Sanders (4-33, 1 td) for a 9 yard pass that would end the scoring in the game. Washington ends its season a perfect 14-0 with a 24-10 win.

Buzzscriptions...Week 14

As I wrote in my last "buzzscription" Parcels again will flee a team that he helped build hope into, just to hog the spotlight to his 12 million dollar walk away "buy out" agreement even before the Dolphins play there first playoff game ? I must feel jealous cause during my 7 game losing streak "dating back to last season (late 90' RAIDA"S)" I could have used his turnaround expert teeze in my stable, probably couldn't afford it HUH? To my fellow Canarsie League counterpart in week 14 Bill Keller I apologize for holding up your locking of a playoff spot. With nothing to lose I was put in a role to play spoiler and to all those other teams out of the running take hold. This game is aggravating with its penalties' that are un coach able, so I had to get over it. We have all won and lost equally with them. Running against the 90 Eagle defense was impossible, but I knew my QB Steve "Carry a team ? ABSERD !!" Deberg could not carry the load this day. My Nigerian nightmare RB Christian Okoye caused many game mares for me. Just mixed it up and got lucky. Good luck the rest way to all. Happy Festavis !! ;)

Steel Curtain survives da Chiefs 16-13 in ot

Hello to all, this is Jay "fit to be tida" Schneider of the KC Chiefs. Due to sheer willingness and diligence from our commish Marc "ain't he nice" Weiss to cross loop onto my computer and almost want to throw up trying to get the darn thing operational, I got to play last night. I almost broke a 7 game winless streak until a fumble recovery with 3 minutes left and me having a 13-10 lead was challenged by coach Weiss. The game actually had the play reviewed and overturned, I could have ran out the clock !! BUT, instead the Steelers tied the game on the same drive with a field goal. The game went into overtime and a snow flake disrupted my ADD kicker to shank a punt and walla the Chiefs get sent pack'n in OT. I will give myself the break and not fire myself, not like Bill Parcels in 1983 after his first season going 3-8-1, the Mara's had more class than that power monger who put my Gmen into a 10 year tailspin. Screw the other teams that hired him after, it was obvious it was all about HIM. I will win one soon, and when I will look out ;). I am hoping to play spoiler the rest of this season. Adios amigos. --submitted by "Coach" Jay Schneider--
