In 1984 Eric Dickerson set the single season NFL rushing yardage record with 2,105 yards in 16 games. This season,
Barry Sanders (1994 Lions) not only set the CFL single season rushing record, but beat the great Dickerson himself...in 2 less games. While his team didn't win many games (4), Barry was not to blame. His CFL single season total of 2,270 yards is a record that just might stand the test of time. To put it into proper perspective Barry averaged 162 yards per game. His season yards per carry average came to 5.7 yards per touch. The number 2 rusher, Emmitt Smith finished with 1,114 yards LESS than Mr. Sanders. Barry and Coach Fortel might not have won many games, but they certainly put together a record breaking performance.
